A cooperative learning game about feelings, needs and conflict situations.
This game was created as part of the From Conflict to Connection project, inspired by the principles of Nonviolent Communication and the belief that empathy can turn conflict into understanding.
It is not a classic competitive board game. It is more like a shared journey. Players move through playful, creative and reflective steps that help them connect with themselves and with each other.
The game invites players to explore three simple but powerful questions:
What do I feel?
What do I need?
What might be happening for the other person?
Through Feeling, Need and Situation Hexagons, players practise emotional awareness, perspective taking, empathy and clearer communication.
The game can be played by 2 to 6 people and usually takes between 40 minutes and 2 hours, depending on player count and the rhythm of the group.
The game moves through several phases. Some are light and playful, while others invite deeper reflection.
Players begin by exploring feelings through guessing style mini games. They may act, draw, describe, invent names or tell short stories connected to emotions.
Then the game opens into needs. Players reflect on what matters to them, share moments when a need was met or unmet, and support each other through small actions or words.
Later, players enter fictional conflict situations. They connect feelings and needs to different characters and practise seeing more than one side of a situation.
Near the end, players may bring the learning into their own lives by reflecting on a real conflict and formulating a possible request.
Everything is an invitation. Players can go deeper when it feels safe, or keep the experience lighter and more playful.
The game uses three main types of Hexagons:
Feeling Hexagons help players name and express emotions.
Need Hexagons help players discover needs.
Situation Hexagons present small everyday moments of tension, misunderstanding, care or connection.
The full set includes 20 Situation Hexagons, 30 Need Hexagons and 40 Feeling Hexagons.
The game also includes a Player Guide and a Game Master Guide. The Game Master does not need to be an expert. Their role is simply to hold the space with warmth, clarity and curiosity.
The game is available to download. Simply download the files, print the components at your local print shop, and start playing.
The download folder includes printing instructions in English for the print shop, as well as game files in four languages.
A simpler home print version is also being prepared. It will be available soon.
