“Follow, Share, Care” was an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange about our relationship with social media, sustainability, and everyday habits.
The project took place from 26 August to 3 September 2026 in Mezőberény, Hungary, bringing together 29 young people from Hungary, Estonia, Portugal and Greece for a week of non-formal learning, reflection and shared experiences.
Why did we focus on social media and sustainability?
Because for many of us, being constantly online is just part of everyday life, but we rarely stop and think about how it affects us. At the same time, we also see the potential of social media to create positive change if we use it more consciously.
During the project, we explored both sides of this. We reflected on our own habits, talked about topics like screen time, comparison and digital overload, and even tried a full 24-hour disconnection from our phones. It wasn’t always easy, but it helped us slow down and be more present with each other.
At the same time, we worked on how to use social media in a better way. We created videos, shared ideas and experimented with content that promotes sustainability, wellbeing and more mindful lifestyles.
One of the highlights was going out into the streets of Békéscsaba, where we interacted with locals through small games and conversations, sharing what we learned in a simple and fun way.
Throughout the week, we learned from each other, stepped out of our comfort zones and realised that small changes in our daily habits can make a real difference. Many of us left with new ideas, new connections and a different perspective on how we want to “follow, share and care” in our everyday lives.
So how can we use social media responsibly?
What to post, what to consume?
Let's figure it out this week...💯
"The day was a very adventurous one, delicious, it took a lot of focus but people were supportive for each other. The whole day was about following, sharing and caring! We started with a quiz to discover our digital personas and had a great discussion about the different results. After that, we explored the 8 key points of Youthpass in a creative mystery-solving game. By the end of the day, we definitely felt closer as a team, and we wrapped things up with Hungarian cultural night, enjoying food, traditions, and some relaxed time together."
"Today was the hottest day of the project so far but we were not discouraged. We found some places with shade and commenced with our World Cafe activity. We discussed topics like fomo, online communities, how to deliver fake news, and how to maintain a healthy relationship with social media.
After the coffee break it was time for role-playing! We had to deal with 6 awkward and funny situations that could happen to any of us. AI boyfriends, stalking your ex on Instagram, finding out you got scammed by an AI ad and many more.
The most special part of the day was actually something unexpected. A disconnection from the grid. To achieve this, we gave up our phones to the cloaked preachers and their bishops! Our phones were locked away!
After that, we had to organize ourselves into different activities such as volleyball, football, ping pong, chess and even visiting the pool.
Now we're ready for the most amazing intercultural night. Greece, complete with dancing Greek dances and a quiz about the Greek phrases! The night ended with us eating more olive oil and tzatziki than we could handle."
"Did you ever wonder how it would be to be digitally disconnected for 24h?
It was spectacular! Our day started by waking up with analogue alarm clocks and people knocking on our doors!
After our breakfast, we dived into the concept of Ikigai, connecting it with the world of social media. Trying to find other ways to connect, we started drawing our stories, embracing the art of listening and storytelling. We also had the opportunity to see each other's personal views by going around our artwork.
After 24h of being completely disconnected, we got our phones back. We continued with a small introduction about content creation, followed by brainstorming ideas to implement it. Our day ended with our last intercultural night hosted by Portugal."
"Today was the big day when the we were able to leave Mezobereny for a day trip to Bekescsaba. We took various materials with us, from cameras to microphones, and even some posters and markers, so we could use the day to record content around the city and be as creative as possible.
We divided in teams and scattered around Bekescsaba ready to transform our ideas into creative content, while simultaneously exploring the city. It took some trial and error and many many laughs, but we managed to take a few shots before going for lunch in the park.
The day was a rollercoster of emotions for the teams: not only were we challenged to create social media content, but we also faced the harsh reality of the weather conditions and how hard it is to have something planned and going in the opposite way. Overall it was a great learning exepirience.
What we can take away from this day is the importance of teamwork and communication. We had various ideas for the task, which required good arguments, active listening and compromise for the final product. We also had the chance to improvise and adapt to changes and unexpected situations, which made our sense of community even stronger, since we were put in an uncomfortable situation we had to solve.
This day really showed the purpose and importance of participating in projects: discovering ourselves individually while contributing to a diverse community with our unique personalities."
"Hello misters whiskers!
Today we started the day by some energizers. After that we had some workshops from participants who have experience in content creation and we learnt about photo editing, canva designing and scripting for beginners. We loved the fact that we had to create our own content and actually learn how to use the photo editing apps. During lunch break we had the chance to finish editing our content from Bekescsaba that we later presented in the group.
Our afternoon session was about a deap cleaning of our phones and we realised how bad content is affecting our attention. We unfollowed accounts that were not useful and deleted apps so that we can have a fresh start!
After that, we celebrated with an amazing volleyball match!!
At night we continued creating content and shooting videos that you will see soon!
Stay tuned!"
